GB’s women overcame the weight of expectation to beat China and secure a historic place in the Paralympic semi-finals, ensuring the team’s best ever finish at a Paralympic Games.
After a closely contested opening, GB put an early stamp on the game to lead 18-12 after the first period. A dominant second stanza saw GB move away from China and establish a lofty 35-19 advantage by half time. All eyes were on Helen Freeman after the break, having racked up 24 personal points in just three quarters: helping GB build an unsalable 49-26 cushion. GB saw out the final 10 minutes without drama to win the game 57-38.
Next up GB will face an in-form USA side for the right to play for gold.
