GB continued to impress on Day 4 at the Paralympic Games as both the Men (4-0) and Women (3-1) won in Rio.
The Men extended their unbeaten start to 4 games, having ground out a well earned win against Germany. After 10 minutes the scores were tied at 12-12, but it was GB who were the happier: GB were able to keep Germany in check despite a stuttering offensive start. The second (19-12), third (18-15) and fourth (17-13) periods followed a similar pattern, Germany threw all they could muster but at no stage did they overwhelm their opponents or come close to challenging GB’s lead down the stretch. The final score read 66-52. Ian Sagar added 21 points, Gaz Choudhry contributed 18 points and Phill Pratt scored 14 points.
GB’s Men round out their group campaign against USA.
The Women concluded their group phase with a convincing win over Brazil. GB held the hosts to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters (15-8; 16-6; 22-6; 10-12) to secure a 63-32 victory and finish the group phase with a record of 3-1. All 12 of GB’s players saw the court, with Amy Conroy (15) and Helen Freeman (13) top scoring.
GB’s Women must now wait to see who they will face in the quarter finals.
