Andreas Kapoulas’ team faced three games in just two days as part of an invitational tournament in Anadia, Portugal, taking on their hosts, Belarus and Sweden.
Four players scored in double figures, paced by 14 points from Jules Dang Akodo, as the young Brits beat Belarus 86-63 in their opening contest on Saturday.
GB then tipped off early on Sunday, wiping out a 15-point deficit against Division A side Sweden with four seconds to play only for Sheriff Drammeh to connect on a ‘Hail Mary’ buzzer beater to secure a 51-48 triumph.
But Kapoulas’ squad showed their resilience to bounce back later that same day and recover from a slow start to overcome hosts Portugal 59-47.
They were once again led by the scoring of Dang Akodo who had 17 points, supplemented by impressive performances across the board, including Josh Steel’s 13 points and Deane Williams’ nine-point, 11-rebound showing.
Two more preparation games will follow in Greece, before GB begin their push for a return to the top-flight against Albania on July 15.
